The brief  Transform the large overgrown double plot into formal and wildlife gardens, with places to showcase the clients’ sculptures. Create a terrace and steps outside the living room doors to allow easy access to the garden, and a formal dining area by the house
Generous steps from a small upper terrace by the living room French doors lead down to the more formal areas of the garden – a stone dining terrace, and Burle-Marx inspired gravel garden featuring bee, insect, and bird-friendly sun-loving plants and trees. This is enclosed by a low dry stone wall, and gentle sloping paths lead down to a meadow and wildlife pond, with mixed native hedges forming the boundaries with the neighbouring gardens and the college woodlands at the bottom of the garden.
