Urban Courtyard

Urban Courtyard

‘I love my garden, it’s the best decision I’ve made in a few years.. ‘ Cathy, Oxford

Our client had a classic urban problem – lovely Victorian terraced house, with a basement kitchen facing a tiny back garden 1.5m above the floor level of the kitchen, accessed by ugly concrete steps.

What she wanted was something elegant, easy to maintain, another room where she could relax and entertain.

To help her visualise our ideas we made a 3D computer model as well as plan and mood board of the garden we were proposing – she loved our ideas, and over the nest few weeks we worked together on the details of the design to finalise a plan for tender.

Key features: Open horizontal slat fencing; Ethically sourced hardwood decking and steps; Gravel garden; Painted rendered wall; Brimming bowl water feature; Sail shade

Key planting: Three distinct areas of planting – Lush green planting around the water bowl; Drought tolerant and sun-loving plants in the gravel garden; Climbers, lavender and bulbs against the fence.
